About the Roots to Wings toolkit

Currently, there are limited resources available to support the mental health and emotional wellbeing of young people in South London.

To address this, Black Thrive commissioned Comuzi to create a wellbeing toolkit for young people, parents, and teachers in South London, especially if they were from a Black or minority background. The toolkit was developed through collaboration with 28 community members including young people, parents, and educators. It provides practical resources to support positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Black Thrive exists to ensure that Black Young People in South London can thrive, mentally and emotionally.

We recognise that this requires the whole community to play their part. So, this Toolkit is designed to be a baseline resource for home and the entire school community to enhance young people's wellbeing, focusing on:

  1. Enhancing Family-School Communication
  2. Empowering Children's Emotional Expression and Understanding
  3. Equipping Teachers & Parents with Practical Conversation Tools
